Employee Profile: Sarah Rogers

Meet Indigena's newest staff member Sarah Rogers. Sarah is our Research and Development Lead.   View More: What sparked your interest in natural skincare? After becoming pregnant, I was far more concerned about skincare than ever before. I was concerned about my growing body and the life I was carrying. I then started using more natural products and treating my body better.   I wasn’t necessary wanting anything better for myself, but I knew I wanted the best for my baby. It’s a trend that has continued in our home since his birth and is now a way of life for us. Are there any interesting/surprising things in your beauty/skincare routine? I don’t really have any particular routine; I just go with how my skin is feeling. I will say that most of my skincare takes place at night. Mornings are very busy in my house and moisturizer is all I have time for usually. At night I have more time to dedicate to myself. I love bath soaks, scrubs, and butters for year round use, not just winter. If my face is dry, I like to use a serum followed by a Labrador Tea Night Crème. What is your favourite product? I don’t think I could narrow it down to just one. My first love at Indigena was the Muscle Recovery Balm. I absolutely love the peppermint scent and the texture reminds me of mousse. And it’s so much more than just a muscle-healing product. I even like to use is on scrapes because I find it helps heal it faster. The moisturizing properties are also fantastic. I also love the Land and Sea Exfoliant. I’m prone to Keratosis Pilaris and this product seems to really help with gently exfoliating the skin and decreasing the bumps. And most recently I fell in love with the Blueberry Bliss Sugar Scrub. It’s not only great for the face and body, but also the lips (and it tastes great, so I usually lick some of it off)   Any new products that you’re excited about? I’m really excited for the development of our Baby/Children’s line of products. I can’t say more because I’d be revealing our secret, but of course, it’s all natural and baby and child friendly. Where do you imagine you’ll take the company next? My background is research and quality management. All companies, regardless of current operations, have room for improvement. Nothing is ever perfect. So I hope to increase efficiency and develop a path for continuing improvement at every level. The quality of our products is something we’re proud of and our clients trust. What are three things you can’t live without?
  1. Mascara (I’m blonde and would otherwise appear to have bald eyelashes)
  2. Tea (plain ol’ Tetley)
  3. Ruffles (Why do they have to be sooo goood?)
Skincare secret: I’m a mom who’s continuing to breastfeed my child and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that breastmilk can fix a lot of problems. I’ve used it to heal dry skin, scrapes and cuts, eye infections, skin rashes, and even take the itch from bug bites (and it’s not just the baby who seeks these benefits J). What is one natural item (makeup and/or skincare) that you think everyone should own? Coconut Oil. I know it’s seems like a big fad right not, but it really is a great oil. I’ve used it as a moisturizer for my skin, on the ends of my hair to prevent frizz and flyaways, and as a base for a breastmilk balm on my baby. I think coconut oil is here to stay. And it tastes great too!
